Submission of PhD thesis in languages other than Spanish and Catalan
The University of Alicante Governing Council approved the Doctoral School Internal Regulations on a meeting held on 17 December 2013. The requirements for the submission of PhD theses in languages other than the official languages of this region are established in Article 15, paragraph 4:
- In PhD degrees whose content is based on the study of a language, PhD candidates can submit their theses in the relevant language of the PhD degree (e.g. English Studies in English, French Studies in French ...), without the need for a previous request. Theses in the area of translation will also be accepted under the same conditions. In addition, those PhD theses eligible for an international PhD endorsement and those developed under an international joint supervision agreement, may be submitted partially written in another language different from the official ones in this region, that is different from Spanish and Catalan).
- For the rest of the PhD degrees, and prior to the submission of the PhD thesis, the thesis director must submit a reasoned request agreed by the PhD Coordinator to the EDUA
In any case, the PhD thesis must contain an abstract in one of the two official languages of this region (Spanish or Catalan). This abstract must contain a general introduction, an overall summary of the results obtained, a discussion of these results and the final conclusions. This summary must give a fairly accurate idea of the content of the thesis. The length of the written part in one of the official languages of this region cannot be less than 5,000 words.
