RESEARCH PLAN

Check the yearly action calendar.

WHAT IS THE RESEARCH PLAN (RP)?

The Research Plan (RP) is a document that contains the work to be carried out for the preparation of the PhD thesis. The document will include at least:

  • Methodology to be used
  • Objectives to be achieved
  • Means and time plan to achieve those objectives.

WHEN SHOULD I GENERATE THE RESEARCH PLAN?

The RP is generating within the yearly Academic Record and Research Plan (RAPI), as follows:

  • During the first year, a pdf must be uploaded using this form.
  • From the second year onwards, depending on whether the research plan is modified or not:
    • No research plan modification: the progress made must be stated on the RAPI for the relevant year and no pdf document has to be attached.
    • With research plan modification (change of topic, methodology etc.), a new pdf document must be attached with the plan modification for the relevant year using the same form as for the first year.

Note: as long as the status of the research plan generated appeared as "registered", it can be modified or complemented.

The RP is definitively recorded when the PhD student changes the status to "under revision" so that the supervisors of your PhD thesis can access it.

RP STANDARD FORM

You must use the form

HOW DO I GET MY RP APPROVED?

Once your RP has been generated and set  "under revision", the PhD thesis supervisors will have access to your research plan and will be able to evaluate it by changing the status into one of the following options:

  • Annual visa.
  • Pending correction.
  • Rejected.

INSTRUCTIONS TO GENERATE YOUR RP: USING CHROME TO REGISTER YOU RESEARCH PLAN IS NOT RECOMMENDED

There is a section that must be filled in with questions regarding the ethical and biosafety principles that must be preserved in any research work. If any of these principles could be affected, the corresponding permission must be requested (the competent body at the UA is the Ethics Committee). These authorisation documents must be provided together with the PhD thesis at the time of registration.
